In the ever-changing restaurant scene, two nearby noteworthy moves are happening.
First, City Kitchen in University Place announced that it will not be re-opening. But, although their decision may have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the owner notes it was actually unsuccessful lease negotiations that caused the closure. Second, long-time Chapel Hill breakfast spot and diner, Breadmen's (now known as Breadman's) has changed ownership and relocated from Rosemary Street to its new location at 261 South Elliot Road. This site formerly housed the Haw River Grill. Chapelboro.com is reporting that Wegman's, which was previously slated to open in Fall 2020, is now on track to open in spring 2021. They will be bringing on around 400 employees and hiring is happening now. You can read more about the development of the store on the Town's site.
